Endlessly inspiring Norwegian polymath, Jenny Hval makes a succinct statement with 'The artist is absent'. The second single from her forthcoming record Iris Silver Mist, is a dance track at its core. Pairing skippy beats with bubbling synth work and Hval's signature ethereal vocals, there's darkness beneath the sonic levity of it all. Summed up best by the killer lyric 'We're dancing to the tiktok of the doomsday clock', Hval contemplates the validity of art in an increasingly impatient world. Extrapolated from the original/album version, we've been treated to visuals for what Hval refers to as 'The artist is absent (89 second rewrite)'. Directed & edited by Jenny Berger Myhre, the intimate clip is a carefree affair that takes place in a moodily lit room, featuring Hval and longtime collaborator Orfee Schuijt.
